Splish splash, they were taking a bath

Despite the heat, we had a great day celebrating Michelle’s birthday on Friday with a half day ride at Buntzen lake. We did the scenic route around the lake. The sky’s were a brilliant blue and lake shone like a mirror. It’s been fairly quite at the lake this summer as the lake is flooded while the damn is under maintenance so the beaches are washed out. Doesn’t affect the riding though. Near the end of the ride we took the horses down to lake to get a much needed drink of water. They all loved the water and love to splash and play. The wetter they get the better they like it. I forewarned Mike and Michelle that if they didn’t keep the horses heads up, that they would likely want to lay down in the water and sure enough – the kids couldn’t resist. We were all soaked and the horses cooled down. Fun was had by all.

Monday Sunset Ride

Started our ride this evening in a clould of bugs. This had the horses in a bit of a tizzy as they desperately tried to ward off the onslaught despite the bug spray. This in turn got Danielle and Shane a bit nervous as the horses couldn’t relax until after we got under way, into the trees and out of line of fire. Once in the woods, everyone relaxed, horses and riders alike. After that the riding was smooth and effortless. We had a wonderful time even if we didn’t get a nice sunset this eveing due to the overcast skies and haze.

Happy Birthday Shane.

Great Horseback riding day at Buntzen

Wow – what a great day for a ride at Buntzen Lake this past Sunday. A fulll group with friends and family of Haney Horseman’s Association President, Dianne Stoesz. We started at the equestrian staging area with full sun. Wound our way up the mountain to the top of Eagle Ridge where it threatened to rain.

We were blessed however, and the threat of rain vanished as we made our way along the top the ridge to next lookout. We watered the horses at a small creek runoff on the next ridge. A few got a free shower courtesy of Kiss who loves to splash in any puddle she can find. Lots of of fun was had by all.

Looking foward to some great riding on the long weekend. Join us for a ride and then stop at the lake for a picnic lunch. Bring your friends and family. Horses for all rider levels.
